Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 The increasing tension between India and Pakistan has been suspended for a week in light. In response to the same, South African Cricketers Association (SACA) and Cricket Australia (CA) have expressed concern about the safety of their players who were participating in the league.
On Thursday, 8 May, the high-stake match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capital had to be stopped halfway in the first innings, after which the Control Board for Cricket in India decided to suspend the tournament with immediate effect for a week.
IPL President Arun Dhumal said that there was no meaning with the league and after assessing the situation in the coming days a decision will be taken on its future.
SACA Chief Executive Officer Andrew Breetzke said, “The health and safety of the players are not perfect. We are in direct contact with all South African players in the IPL and update them with security reports. We have offered them any support that they need.”
Meanwhile, in a statement on Friday, Cricket Australia spoke on similar lines, saying: “We continue to closely monitor the situation in Pakistan and India, including regular advice and updates from the Australian government, PCB, BCCI and local government officials and currently maintaining communication with our players and assistant employees.”
A few hours before the said growth, Cricket West Indies also issued a statement stating that it was in touch with both BCCI and PCB, to take stock of the situation.
The IPL is complicated with only 12 league matches before the playoffs and finals. While Gujarat is leading Titans IPL 2025 points TableNo team has booked their places in the playoffs. However, Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad have already been dropped from the race in the next phase of the 10-Team tournament.
