Mumbai Indians (MI) had their worst Indian Premier League (IPL) campaign this year and finished ninth in the points table.
Last year, MI reached the playoffs with a comparatively weak team. They made some important signings in the IPL 2026 mini-auction and look like a solid team on paper. However, this did not yield any results on the field.
Despite having many big names in the squad, MI did not play as a cohesive unit. There seemed to be a lack of clarity in terms of roles assigned to the players. Form and injury concerns are also hurting the team.
On that note, let's look at three changes that MI needs to make to turn things around.
Here are 3 changes MI should make ahead of IPL 2027:
3. Solid support to Jasprit Bumrah

This dealt a blow to the campaign of Mumbai Indians Jasprit BumrahDisappointing form of. He took three wickets in his debut season in 2013 and the same number of wickets in 2015. However, he played only six matches in both seasons.
This season, Bumrah managed to take only four wickets in 13 matches at an average of 102.50. While his economy rate of 8.37 was good, MI needed to be between the wickets rather than restricting the runs.
This is where the five-time champions lacked an impact player, especially with the new ball. It would be good for MI to look for someone who can play a good supporting role for Bumrah. Trent Boult was expected to take this responsibility, but his campaign was disappointing.
