R Ashwin chose his best playing eleven for IPL 2026; Virat Kohli did not get the role of opener!

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 was action-packed with teams competing for the coveted title. In the end, it was Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) who retained the silver medal.

The great Ravichandran Ashwin picked his best playing XII from the recently concluded tournament during one of his videos on YouTube.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who was the MVP (Most Valuable Player) and Orange Cap winner, was selected as the opener and it was really a no-brainer decision. Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill, who was the second-highest run-scorer, was selected as Suryavanshi's opening partner.

like a talisman Virat Kohli Opened the batting for RCB and had his best season in terms of strike rate. He was also the player of the match in the final against Titans. He was given number 3 position in Ashwin's team.

Heinrich Klaasen, Rajat Patidar and Nitish Kumar Reddy formed the middle order in Ashwin's team. Klaasen has been impressive throughout the season for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). He scored more than 600 runs, which is commendable for a middle-order batsman. RCB captain Patidar also played an important role in his team's victory.

He led from the front, playing some crucial innings throughout the season. There were not many all-rounders who performed remarkably in IPL 2026. However, Reddy finished with over 300 runs and eight wickets. He was followed by RCB all-rounder Krunal Pandya, whose campaign was also memorable.

Many foreign players were present in Ashwin's bowling unit. Apart from Bhuvneshwar Kumar, former India spinner Jamie Overton went along with Sunil Narine and Kagiso Rabada. The cricketer turned specialist chose Jofra Archer as his overseas player. It is important to mention that Rabada, Bhuvneshwar and Archer were the top three wicket-takers in the tournament, taking 29, 28 and 25 wickets respectively.
