'We don't have a full team'

Punjab Kings (PBK) On Sunday, May 18, on Sunday, his upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) against Rajasthan Royals (RR) will be without his two major players in the 2025 clash.

PBKS bowling coach James Hops said Australian cricketers Marcus Stoinis and Josh Engagis are likely to join the team early next week. Aaron Hardy is another player who will not be available for an encounter against Royals. However, Hopes believe that the PBKS squad has sufficient depth to cover for absent people.

“We do not have a full team. We hope that Marcus Stoinis and Josh Iglis join us early next week, but to be honest, I am very fast in my squad, as we have Mitchell Owens.

He said, “There is a certain time in the tournament that Josh and Marcus have not been selected anyway, so we are very fast about our squad.”

The former Australian all-rounder also talked about the reason behind not leaving India amid uncertainties about the resumption of IPL. Hops said the Punjab management stayed in New Delhi, as they would not have found much time to spend with their families if they had returned anyway.

“I was sitting in Delhi and then I was here in a bus. I myself, Ricky Ponting, Brad Hadin, and the rest of the management, we stayed because there was an opportunity that the tournament could get up on Thursday night after the ceasefire and was not to come back to our house and come back again, so I think I didn't work.”

PBK is on the verge of making it in playoffs for the first time since IPL 2014. He has registered seven wins and has lost only three games in 11 which he has played so far. One of his sports ended without a result. The party led by Shreyas Iyer is placed at number 3 on the points table. A win on Sunday will help them progress in the playoffs.
