Ahead of the IPL 2026 season, Tiwary's confidence, coupled with his performances in age-group and domestic cricket, has established him as one of the most exciting uncapped prospects in LSG's setup. Tiwary said that contributing at any stage of the game is his priority, but if he is asked about his favorite wicket, Kohli tops the list.
In an exclusive conversation with CricTracker, he said, “My philosophy is that at any stage, be it bowling, batting or fielding, I should contribute for my team. But if you ask me my favorite wicket, I would say Virat Kohli.”
Naman Tiwari will fly to Durban with other LSG bowlers
Tiwari Also remembered a brief meeting with Kohli during the net session. The incident occurred when both the players were returning to their hotel after completing their respective training sessions.
He said, “Nothing special, he was going to the hotel. I had finished my bowling session. He came for the practice session. We had a match the next day. It's difficult to meet on a match day. But the practice session, just as he was about to leave, my net session was over. I was also very tired. He was also in a hurry. I just clicked a photo and said hello. Then he left, and I also left.”
The 20-year-old was picked up by Lucknow Super Giants, who secured him for Rs 1 crore. Entering the auction at a base price of Rs 30 lakh, the left-arm fast bowler attracted 15 bids. Delhi Capitals showed early interest before withdrawing, while LSG went toe-to-toe with Rajasthan Royals to secure the uncapped Indian early. He was one of the many uncapped players to cross the Rs 1 crore mark.
