'Keep things simple and focus on the process'


Jitesh Sharma said that he did not get too many chances to talk to MS Dhoni during the Indian Premier League (IPL), but once he got some valuable advice from the former Indian captain.

Baroda wicketkeeper-batsman Jitesh, who plays for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the IPL, said Dhoni advised him to keep things simple and focus on the process.

“To be honest, I didn't get a chance to talk to him much. We usually just shook hands after the game. But I got a chance to interact with him and he asked me to keep things simple and focus on the process,” Jitesh said during an exclusive interview with CricTracker.

Jitesh was asked to share his opinion about the fans' reactions when MS Dhoni walked out to bat at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The Amravati-born player said that the Chepauk crowd goes crazy after seeing Dhoni and their reaction is similar to that of RCB fans at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium when Virat Kohli comes to the crease.

“No need to say anything about it, everyone knows. Whenever he lands at Chepauk, the entire Chennai crowd goes crazy, just like the Chinnaswamy crowd in Bengaluru goes crazy when Kohli comes to bat,” the 32-year-old said.

Jitesh was one of the best performers for RCB during their victorious IPL 2025 campaign. The experienced campaigner scored 261 runs in 15 matches at an average of 37.29 and a strike rate of 176.35.

He was part of the Indian team during the five-match T20 series against South Africa last month. However, he was replaced by Ishan Kishan for the upcoming T20I matches against New Zealand and the subsequent T20 World Cup.
