“Everyone says that he [Rohit] Leaves his players behind; They give them a lot of opportunities. He is a very smart captain. Their one-liners (on the field) are also quite fun. If you ask me a captain that I want to play, it would be Rohit Sharma, “Shashank said on the YouTube channel of Shubhankar Mishra.” He is from Bombay. I also batted with them once. Shashank was selected under suspicious circumstances by Punjab Kings in the IPL 2024 auction as the franchise bid for him to remove a quick round, described him as wrong for another player with a similar name. However, the franchise later released an explanation, stating that he was always on his goal with Shashank. He was eventually signed his base price of INR 20 lakhs.

The above events did not prevent him from becoming one of his best players in the season as he finished as the team's highest run-match, scoring 354 runs, an average of 44.25 and a strike rate of 164.65 in 14 matches.

As a result, Shashank was one of the only two players made by Punjab Kings before the 2025 auction, which acquired a price tag of INR 5.50 crore. It is safe to say that he has achieved the confidence of the franchise after last season.
