Piyush Chawla praised the captain of Mumbai Indians (MI) Hardik PandyaSaying that his aggressive captaincy played a big role in reducing a five -time champion in reducing the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the prestigious Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Monday, 31 March.
Chawla, a former MI player, said Hardik said that the situation was favorable for pacers and he used them effectively. East-India spinners were also impressed by Hardik's call, when Harshit Rana came out to bat, to bring the left-handed wrist-spinner Vignesh Puthur. The move paid dividends as Rana went for a big shot against the young man and was out for deep mid-wicket.
“I think the best part of his captaincy was his attacker approach. He read the terms well and understood that there was something in the pitch for the seamers, so he used him effectively. A step that I loved when I was particularly liked when Vignesh was Vignesh. [Puthur] Bowling came, while Harshit Rana was batting at the end, “he said on Gehotstar.
Trent Bault and Deepak Char took wickets with a new ball before being introduced to Ashwani Kumar, who made her fourth over of Powerplay. The left -handed pace did his first delivery, rejecting KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane. Ashwani eventually ended with outstanding figures of 4/24 in three overs. He became the first Indian player to bag for four-fur in his IPL debut.
“You want to get that wicket, instead that the opposition allowed another 10–15 runs with Ramandip Singh. Overall, it was to be decided. When Manish Pandey and Rinku Singh were forming a partnership between Manish Pandey and Rinku Singh, she brought Ashwani Kumar into an attack, and at that time the game completely executed the game.”
He said, “The way he came, it is not easy to make such a strong start, especially in Wankhed, known as a batting heaven. Getting a wicket with a very first ball gives immense confidence to any bowler. After that, he bowled with great control, changed his length effectively,” he said.
Chawla also told how well Ashwani established Andre Russell. The 23 -year -old bowled a couple of short balls before following it with a length ball, in which Russell made a mess and saw that their stumps were upset.
“His dismissal of Andre Russell was especially impressive – he beautifully installed it. He bowled a pair of bouncers when he went inside Russell, hoping for a small ball, and then made a pitch smart to get him out. A first time did not play a cricket, which is coming at this level and an untriendly achievement,” he said.
KKR was excluded for just 116 in 16.2 overs. The domestic side chased the palate clan in only 12.5 overs with eight wickets.
