The much-awaited mini-auction is almost upon us, as franchises get ready to build strong squads that can help them advance in the 2026 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The IPL 2026 mini-auction will be held on Tuesday, December 16, at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will enter the auction with the highest purse of Rs 64.3 crore. Mumbai Indians (MI), on the other hand, will have the lowest purse of Rs 2.75 crore, having retained most of their players.
A maximum of 77 slots can be filled in the auction, of which 31 are reserved for foreign players. As per IPL norms, a team can register a maximum squad size of 25. In this article, CricTracker lists three players who may remain unsold for the second consecutive year.

3. Umesh Yadav
Umesh Yadav Played for Gujarat Titans in IPL 2024 and took eight wickets in seven matches. He went to the mega-auction of IPL 2025 and did not find any buyer. A foot injury had been troubling him during the team and surgery may have influenced the franchise's decisions.
Umesh has worked hard on his fitness and bowled at good pace during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025, where he represented his home team Vidarbha. However, the 38-year-old has reached his peak, and T20 was not his favorite format anyway. This time also he will not be able to attract the attention of the buyer.
