3 LSG players can be traded before IPL 2026 auction

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) performed brilliantly during the IPL 2025 season but ultimately missed the playoffs, finishing seventh on the points table. The franchise gained momentum in pieces, resulting in missed opportunities. As the IPL 2026 mini-auction approaches, the management of LSG is expected to make adjustments to strengthen the squad and address the existing shortcomings.

The franchise has already made some changes in its coaching setup and is expected to do the same in its team as well. With a view to improving depth and flexibility, especially in the pace and lower-order departments, the Lucknow-based team may prefer specialist roles over big names. On that note, let's take a look at three players the franchise could target for a trade.

Here are 3 players LSG could trade ahead of the IPL 2026 auction:

West Indies fast bowler Shamar JosephHis IPL tenure has been affected by persistent fitness problems and inconsistent availability. After being a part of two seasons, Joseph played just one game before being sidelined due to injuries. His latest shoulder trouble has ruled him out of West Indies' ODI and T20I series against Bangladesh, raising questions over his long-term fitness.

Having already missed the Test against India, Joseph has been struggling to maintain consistency since the end of the CPL. For the franchise, it seems impractical to retain a foreign player who has not contributed on the field and is constantly facing injury troubles. Ahead of the IPL 2026 auction, releasing Joseph would allow the team to free up an overseas slot and auction capital.
