Former team owner Vijay Mallya congratulated on X (formerly Twitter) Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) to reach the final of the 2026 Indian Premier League after defeating Gujarat Titans by 92 runs in Qualifier 1 on Tuesday, May 26.
The defending champions batted brilliantly, scoring 254 runs in the first innings, with captain Rajat Patidar leading from the front. The right-handed batsman scored 93 runs in just 33 balls at an average of 281.82. Following his performance with the bat, RCB's bowling unit took over the proceedings and bowled out GT for just 162 runs, with Jacob Duffy taking three wickets.
Mallya was very happy with his former team reaching its second consecutive IPL final. He once again called RCB 'Namma Dodda Simhagulu', which roughly means 'our big lion'.
Huge congratulations to RCB Namma Dodda Simhagulu for an emphatic win in Dharamshala tonight. Vijay Mallya posted on
Huge congratulations to RCB Namma Dodda Simhagulu for an emphatic win in Dharamshala tonight. You roared like the Bengaluru lions and entered the IPL final as defending champions.

It is noteworthy that, despite not being associated with the franchise for the last few years, Mallya continues to support RCB from a distance and always congratulates them on their success on social media. Royal Challengers fans also show their appreciation for the former owner's loyalty.
When RCB won their first title last season, Mallya's congratulatory post on X received over 148,000 likes and six million impressions.
Royal Challengers are looking to become the third team in IPL history to retain last year's title. Chennai Super Kings was the first team to do so, winning two titles in 2010 and 2011, with Mumbai Indians joining them in the feat by winning the trophy in 2019 and 2020.
RCB now have a gap of four days before taking the field in Ahmedabad for the showpiece final on Sunday, May 31.
