His contract with Warwickshire runs from the beginning of May to the end of July and he will be available for both the County Championship and T20 Blast. If he is named in Australia’s squad for the WTC finals – as expected – he will likely miss a few Blast matches with the finals scheduled for June 11-15.
Other members of Australia’s Test squad who are not involved in the IPL or PSL could follow Webster’s lead in signing county contracts for the WTC final. Two South Africans have already confirmed regular contracts in David Bedingham (Durham) and Kyle Vereen (Nottinghamshire).
After recent spells with Essex (in 2023) and Gloucestershire (in 2024), Webster will represent his third county. His stock has risen significantly in that time: his deal with Essex was done while he was playing club cricket in the UK, before he joined Gloucestershire for their largely successful T20 Blast campaign last summer.
“I’m really pleased to sign with the Bears for part of the 2025 season,” Webster said. “Played Birmingham League cricket [for Knowle and Dorridge] In the past, I have great memories of the people and the area. I played some Championship cricket with Gloucestershire last summer and loved the challenge of the competition.”
Warwickshire head coach Mark Robinson said: “We’re delighted Beau has chosen to be a Bear. He’s made his international debut since we first approached him which shows how much the Australian selectors hold him in high esteem. As an all-rounder he’s one of our favorites in both the Championship and the Blast. It will bring great balance.”
