'Winning trophies has always been my biggest motivation'


Krunal Pandya Indian Premier League (IPL) proved to be a lethal weapon for Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2026 as the franchise managed to successfully defend their title, guided by the all-round contribution of the experienced cricketer. Krunal won his fifth IPL trophy as a player, which is also the joint second most in the league. He shares this record with his brother and MI captain Hardik Pandya.

Speaking on RCB's victory in 2026, Krunal has said that he is always motivated to win tournaments while playing, as it is a very unique feeling. According to the Ahmedabad-born player, individual contribution on the field makes a player feel happy about himself, but winning a championship makes that feeling really special.

“Winning trophies in cricket has always been my biggest motivation because there is no feeling like winning a championship. Individual performances and winning matches bring happiness, but winning a tournament is really something special,” Krunal said via Geostar after RCB defeated GT in the IPL 2026 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.

Furthermore, the cricketer said that he has always believed in the manifestation of goals at the team level, and in just eleven years of his career, he has managed to be a part of the team that has won the IPL title five times. Krunal said that contributing to the team's success gives him immense satisfaction and he also expressed his gratitude for the opportunities he has got in his IPL career.

The veteran all-rounder said, “Throughout my career, I have always envisioned and demonstrated success at the team level, and I have been fortunate enough to be a part of teams that have achieved it. Winning a fifth IPL trophy in eleven years is incredibly satisfying, and I am grateful for the journey and the opportunities that have come my way.”

Krunal's all-round contribution helped him take 14 wickets and score 226 runs for the Bengaluru-based franchise. His economy rate of 8.41 and batting strike rate of over 145 made him a standout for the team in the nineteenth edition of the marquee tournament.
