Rajasthan Royals (RR) And Gujarat Titans (GT) will face each other in the West India Derby on Saturday, May 9 in the 52nd match of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
Both sides have the same number of points and a chance to qualify for the playoffs. GT, who are currently on a three-match winning streak, are out of the top four due to their low net run-rate. On the other hand, RR have lost their last two matches at their Jaipur home ground.
RR vs GT: Toss Update
Rajasthan Royals' acting captain Yashasvi Jaiswal took the right decision of the coin toss and decided to bowl first. The left-handed batsman liked the pitch on which the game is set to be played and would love to chase the target. GT captain Shubman Gill also wanted to bowl first. The top order suggested that they would see how the pitch plays in the first few overs before deciding on the ideal score they want to put on the board.
RR vs GT: Riyan Parag missed due to hamstring strain
RR's regular captain Ryan Parag will not be able to play any IPL match for the first time this season. During the toss, Jaiswal revealed that the right-handed batsman had suffered a hamstring injury in the last game, due to which he might miss a few games. Shimron Hetmyer is coming into the team along with Yashraj Punja in the 2008 Champion.
RR vs GT: What did the captains say?
Yashasvi Jaiswal, RR captain:
“We are going to bowl first. I think the wicket is quite good and we want to chase it. Ryan pulled his hamstring in the last game, so I think he will be back soon. Shimron Hetmyer comes in and Yashraj Punja comes in. Those are the two guys who are coming in. I am really excited, looking forward to the game.”
Shubman Gill, GT Captain:
“To be honest, we would have bowled first. We have got one change. Prasidh Krishna has returned in place of Manav Suthar. I think it is important to look at our strengths as a batting group or a bowling group. What are the things that have given us so much success as a team. So, there were certain areas that we went back and reflected on. Most of the games we have played have been quite close. So, it is about putting in the extra effort, You know, if something is going well for you, the confidence to be able to execute that. Yeah, I mean, we're going to see that first few overs, 2-3 overs obviously a par score and then you want to get an extra 10-15 on top of that score to give extra support to the bowlers.
