Match 38 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 witnessed a thrilling match as Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Lucknow Super Giants in a tied match via Super Over. Trying to chase down the small target of just 156 runs, the Rishabh Pant-led side could not surpass KKR's total and managed only one run in the Super Over. former cricketer Virender Sehwag Expressed disappointment over yet another defeat for LSG.
Sehwag has blamed the LSG management and the think tank for the losses in the current season. Along with Kane Williamson (strategy coach), Justin Langer (head coach) and Tom Moody (director of cricket), the former India opener believes that with such high caliber and proven expertise under management, no team should be let down. He even questioned whether his mind was in the right place.
“Lucknow Super Giants once again failed to chase the target in this IPL. I don't understand. You have a director of cricket and a coach. kane williamsonJustin Langer and Tom Moody are all there. Why don't they have brains? (Don't they use their brains?) Can't they see how their team is performing? The team has not been able to bat, and yet they are winning the toss and inviting the opposition to bat,” Sehwag said via Cricbuzz.
The cricketer turned commentator further said, “If they win the toss and decide to bat first, even if they score 140 to 150 runs, the pressure will be on KKR. I can't understand this. You are not able to chase, but you are adamant on chasing the target. Yeh kahan ki samadhi hai? Kaun le raha hai vaidya hai? (How much sense is this? Who is taking all these calls?).”
After suffering a narrow defeat against KKR, the Lucknow-based unit is currently placed last in the IPL 2026 points table with only two wins and six losses from eight matches. To add to their troubles, Pant and Co.'s net run rate (NRR) is a negative -1.106.
