Omkar's father Tukaram Tarmale reiterated that it took a lot of hard work from the entire family and the people who cheered him behind the scenes to see their favorite make it big in cricket. Tarmale's name came up in the quick rounds as an uncapped fast bowler and SRH co-owner Kavya Maran picked up her paddle at the right time to buy the youngster for Rs 30 lakh, sending the family into joy and celebration.
“He played around, and even went to Delhi. My financial condition had deteriorated, but I had to send Omkar to Tripura. Coincidentally, I asked the local women, who had a self-help group, to give me Rs 3 lakh and with that money, we were able to send Omkar. There, he performed at the top level, so the coaches in Tripura asked if I could hand over Omkar to them and they would pursue him, but I obviously Said 'no',” said Tukaram. Tukaram further said, “I asked local coaches I knew in Kalyan. They told me that my son had the courage to make a big name in cricket. After that he moved to Mumbai and was commuting to and from Tripura. But for the Maharashtra Premier League, he immediately took off and from there his career took off.”
The father-son duo went through financial hardships and that's when the father taught his younger son that he should work hard and focus on becoming something big. Like everything, Omkar learned his lesson and proved his mettle in the domestic circuit away from the limelight, but no one paid attention to him because SRH His talent was valued to get him an IPL contract.
“He has worked very hard on his cricket too. I always used to advise him that you should focus so much on your career so that your son does not have to work as hard as us. And today, Omkar has paid off all our sacrifices and hard work, so I am very happy. That's all I want to say,” the father concluded.
