Karthik first came into limelight when he scored a century on debut in the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy. He is an exciting young player who is known for his power-hitting ability. Karthik made his T20 debut and List A debut in November and December of the same year.
Interestingly, Karthik's journey started with street cricket. Born in a middle-class family, Karthik had to work hard before going for structured training at the local cricket academy. He became a favorite of the coaches based on his natural strokeplay and aggressive approach. After starting out in under-14 cricket for the state, Karthik became a consistent performer at the under-16 level.
He got his break at under-19 level with prominent repertoire. Karthik has already told in the interview that he is a fan of MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli.
At the young age of 19, Karthik's talent was recognized by Jindal South West (JSW). This renowned group is famous for managing emerging elite and established athletes like Indian javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra. Karthik has played nine List A matches, in which he has scored 445 and 334 runs at an average of 118.03 and 162.92 respectively. Excluding eight first-class matches,
Karthik was the second uncapped player to be signed Chennai Super Kings After Prashant Veer. Both of them have been included in the five-time champions' setup for Rs 14.20 crore in Abu Dhabi on December 16. CSK did not have an IPL 2025 to remember as they finished bottom of the points table for the first time in their history. With acquisitions like Karthik, they will aim for better performances in the coming seasons.
