Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) Fast bowler Mohammed Shami was honored with a special honor called “Match IQ Award” after his game against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Ekana International Stadium on Sunday, April 27.
Despite losing the game against Knight Riders, Shami made a positive impact on the proceedings. The right-arm fast bowler was the fielder who bowled the ball towards the stumps, which ultimately led to the dismissal of Angkrish Raghuvanshi while obstructing the field in the first innings.
Shami also performed well with the bat in the second innings. The 35-year-old player took the game to the super over by hitting a six on the last ball of the innings. The dramatic finish did not result in a win for LSG, with the hosts losing the game after scoring just one run in an over-the-top face-off.
LSG coach Lance Klusener, in presenting the award, said, “Someone bowled the ball to another player running home and got a run out and coolly under pressure scored 6 runs on the last ball to put us into the Super Over.”

Shami He has also had a good season with the ball. In the first eight matches, the right-arm pacer has taken seven wickets at an economy rate above eight. He continues to lead the exciting bowling unit of Prince Yadav, Mayank Yadav and Digvesh Rathi.
Due to LSG's defeat at the hands of KKR, they have slipped to the bottom of the points table. Rishabh Pant's team has earned just four points from eight matches in the 2026 Indian Premier League. They are currently facing defeat in five matches in the tournament and look far away from reaching the playoffs.
LSG will have to wait a week for their next match. They will head to the Wankhede Stadium to take on Mumbai Indians on Monday, May 4.
