Tilak Verma and jamie overton was seen involved in a heated argument during Mumbai Indians (MI)'s home game against arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Match 33 of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Wankhede Stadium.
Both MI and CSK are considered to be the fiercest rivals in the history of the IPL, with both sides having won five titles each. The rivalry was largely witnessed on the field with a heated exchange between Verma and Overton at the non-striker's end.
In the 10th over, Overton was preparing to bowl to Verma, but the left-handed batsman stopped the right-arm pacer before he could start his run-up. This did not go down well with the England international, who faced the batsman after changing sides.
Suryakumar Yadav was batting together wormHad to intervene and talk Overton into supporting his fellow MI and India teammates. After the exchange of words, the batsman was also seen making a disappointing gesture with the bat, before both players went their separate ways at the end of the over.
Overton conceded 13 runs in that particular over as the hosts tried to rebuild their innings after the loss of three wickets.
