The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) selection committee has reportedly taken an important step towards rewarding the young sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi For his impressive performance. The 15-year-old is understood to be in contention for India's squad for the upcoming T20I series against Ireland in June after the conclusion of the Indian Premier League 2026.
If Suryavanshi gets a chance to make his debut, he can etch his name in the record books as India's youngest international cricketer, leaving behind the great Sachin Tendulkar, who made his debut at the age of 16. The young player has been shortlisted for the tour of Ireland, where India has to play two T20 matches on June 26 and 28.
“He is a contender for the Ireland tour and the selectors have shortlisted his name along with several other players,” the Indian Express quoted a BCCI source as saying.
The move reflects the selectors' desire to fast-track Rajasthan Royals' talented player, giving him exposure against comparatively less challenging opposition. A strong performance in Ireland could further strengthen their bid for the next tour of Zimbabwe, where India are scheduled to play three matches between July 23 and 26.
