Former Indian cricketer and head coach Rahul Dravid He believes the organizers should focus on creating more bowler-friendly wickets to bring back balance in modern T20 cricket, which is clearly a batting-dominated game at the moment, with batsmen like Abhishek Sharma, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Priyansh Arya and Ayush Mhatre adopting a fearless approach.
Saying that batsmen have revolutionized the way cricket is played, especially in the shortest format of the game, Dravid believes that bowlers have to develop themselves to become good enough to be able to match the skills possessed by the batsmen.
“In a way, looking at the quality of batting that has happened over the last two or three years, I think the bowlers have to gradually make some improvements in that format of the game. I think the batsmen's ability and ability to hit sixes and reach different parts of the ground has definitely improved a lot,” Dravid was quoted as saying by India Today.
“The bowlers have to keep working on their skills and keep developing. I'm sure some of them will still be able to stand up and hold their own. I think if you look at it in terms of balance, probably some of the bowlers are able to meet the demands of the modern T20 game at the moment. That could change in two or three years,” he said.
Almost every test match is getting results: Dravid
Dravid, a talented player of red ball cricket during his active international days, has recently given his analytical opinion on the changing nature of Test matches. The Indore-born player believes that earlier producing results meant working hard for four to five days and getting a win, but now, matches do not last so long and the results have become spectacular. IPL And T20 cricket has undoubtedly played a huge role in this.
“I mean, if you look at Test cricket today, almost every Test match gives a result. So, I think the bowlers are probably dominating some of the Test matches that we are seeing – two-day matches, three-day matches. So, the bowlers have started to dominate Test cricket. So, over the next few years it will be interesting to see if the bowlers are able to pull it back a little bit in the T20s,” Dravid added.
