Former Pakistan player Azhar Mahmood congratulated on social media Virat Kohli And Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) to win the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL). The Bengaluru team defended their title from last season by defeating Gujarat Titans in the final.
Kohli was the star of the show during the showpiece final in Ahmedabad. The former Indian captain scored an unbeaten 75 runs in 42 balls to lead his team to victory with two overs remaining. He hit nine fours and three sixes in his match-winning innings, including a six that ultimately ensured the victory.
Mahmood was extremely impressed with Kohli's contribution in the final and praised the 37-year-old's ability to lead his team to victory during the run chase. The former all-rounder also termed the RCB star as the greatest star of all time.

It is worth mentioning that Mahmoud He is the only Pakistani player to compete in the IPL after cricketers from that country were banned following the 2008 terrorist attacks in Mumbai. The 51-year-old acquired British citizenship after the end of his international career, making him eligible to take part in the competition. He played two seasons for Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) in 2012 and 2013, where he took 29 wickets and scored 382 runs while playing 22 times.
Kohli, on the other hand, once again finished the IPL season as RCB's leading run-scorer. The top-order batsman scored 675 runs at an average of 56.25 while striking at 165.84. This was the highest strike rate by a right-handed batsman in a single IPL season. He also crossed the 9,000-run mark in the tournament and became the first player in history to do so.
