Naman Dheer During Match 24 of the ongoing IPL 2026 between Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday, 16 April, Amulya played a brilliant inning of 50 runs in 31 balls.
Dheer's innings proved to be a boon for the hosts as they were reduced to 12-2 after being asked to bat first. It would have been MI's third wicket in the powerplay if Yuzvendra Chahal had caught Dheer's errant shot in the air, but it slipped through the 36-year-old's hands. Reflecting on the incident, the all-rounder said that it is not the kind of shot he would like to play.
“The wicket looks good; we are 20 runs short. (The shot on which Yuzvendra Chahal dropped his catch while batting on 10) was a poor shot. Some of the shots from Quinton de Kock were incredible; over cover, the first ball, shows how good he is. The pitch is slow; the bounce is not that good. I am not a player who breaks the ball; I time the ball. If I hit it in the middle, So, that's good. That's enough,” Dheer said on air after the first innings.
