Looks like there are rumors going around about a trade deal sanju samson There may finally be a break between Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings. The latest development has confirmed that RR will include CSK all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran to oust Samson from their set-up ahead of the 2026 season of the Indian Premier League.
A recent media report has made it clear that both the franchises have discussed the trade deal with all the players involved and are all set to send an expression of interest to the IPL Governing Council in this regard. If successful, it would become one of the most historic business deals in the history of the cash-rich tournament.
“Both RR and CSK will have to send an expression of interest to the IPL Governing Council naming the three players involved in the trade. As per the trading rules, once the written consent of the players comes, the franchises can hold further discussions for the final agreement, which will also be approved by the Governing Council,” ESPNcricinfo wrote in its latest report.
Notably, Samson has represented RR since his debut with them in 2012. When the franchise was suspended for two years in 2016 and 2017, those were the only seasons where Samson found a home in another franchise as he played for Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals). The same thing applies with Jadeja also. He has shared a long-term relationship with the franchise, and is also set to captain the team sometime in 2023.
Curran, on the other hand, has represented Punjab Kings during the rest of his IPL career while with CSK, which peaked in 2019. The English all-rounder has recently risen to prominence, earning a place back in the international team, and is also captaining his side in The Hundred men's competition.
Who will keep wicket for CSK – Samson or MS Dhoni?
The two genuine match-winning all-rounders against Samson, who is a leadership material and also provides a wicketkeeper-batsman option to the great MS Dhoni, could be one of the reasons why CSK is interested in adding the likes of him to their squadron ahead of the upcoming season.
Notably, CSK CEO Kasi Vishwanathan has confirmed that Dhoni will play the 2026 season, however, his knee problem suggests that he can only play as an impact substitute. He captained CSK once in the latter half of the 2025 season Ruturaj Gaikwad Was ruled out due to shoulder fracture. However, he will return as a specialist as the Maharashtra batsman is expected to return to lead the team again.
