Rajasthan Royals (RR) defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 47 runs in the eliminator at the Maharaja Yadvendra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur on Wednesday, May 27.
Pat Cummins' decision to bowl first on flat deck backfires Vaibhav Suryavanshi Unlock beast mode. He stunned the SRH bowlers with his brilliant batting performance and foiled whatever plans they had against him. Suryavanshi was eventually out after scoring 97 runs on 29 balls. He was close to breaking the record of fastest century (30 balls) in IPL.
Dhruv Jurel also played a brilliant inning of 50 runs in 21 balls, while Riyan Parag made an important contribution of 26 runs in 12 balls. SRH picked up a few wickets in the latter stages but due to Suryavanshi's ferocity, RR ended up at a mammoth score of 243/8.
In reply, Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head had to fire for SRH. However, the former player was dismissed by Jofra Archer on the second ball. Head and Ishan Kishan gave SRH hopes of a historic win by making a partnership of 51 runs in just 15 balls. However, Archer disrupts their plans by sending both of them back to the hut inside the power play.
Heinrich Klaasen, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Salil Arora played enterprising cameos, but it was never enough for the Orange Army. They were eventually bowled out for 196 in 19.2 overs and Rajasthan advanced to Qualifier 2.
