SRH vs PBKS, Match 49 Highlights

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) secured a comfortable 33-run win against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Match 49 of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Wednesday, May 6.

Batting first, SRH scored 235 runs on the board. They once again got a great start thanks to their openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma. However, it was Ishan Kishan (55) and Heinrich Klaasen (69) who helped them reach big scores, with Nitish Kumar Reddy also scoring crucial runs in the end.

Meanwhile, PBKS kept losing wickets at regular intervals, preventing them from making a comeback in the game. Cooper Connolly was their highest run-scorer, scoring 107 not out. However, they lacked support at the other end, resulting in PBKS Lost third game in a row.

Key moments of the game:

1. Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy show up towards the end

Both Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy ended SRH's innings with a flurry of fours and sixes, helping them post 235 runs from their quota of 20 overs. Klaasen finished the innings on 69, while the returning Reddy remained unbeaten on 29 off just 13 balls at a strike-rate of 223.08. This included scoring 17 runs in the 17th over to give itself a perfect platform for a spectacular finish.

2. Punjab Kings and their problems on the field

Matches are won by catches, but Punjab Kings did not follow the age-old adage and missed a lot of chances in the field. Ishan Kishan was given two lives, with Cooper Connolly and Lockie Ferguson taking two relatively easy variations to the deep square leg boundary. Kishan scored 55 runs off just 32 balls, while Klaasen continued his good form with a score of 69.

3. Sunrisers Hyderabad got important wickets in the beginning

SRH grabbed four early wickets in the second innings to ensure that they were in the driver's seat from the start. The 2016 champion dismissed Priyansh Arya, Prabhsimran Singh and Shreyas Iyer within the first 20 balls of the run chase. With PBKS already struggling in the powerplay, Marcus Stoinis was the next big wicket to take, which they managed to get in the over just after the fielding restriction.
