The Chennai-born player revealed how he deals with tough times in a long tournament like the IPL and stressed the importance of staying mentally fresh.
Speaking on Geostar, Sudarshan said, “I don't look at it as a bad situation or a phase where I am not scoring runs. It is a learning experience for me to move forward, improve and become better. In such an important tournament, it is important not to carry the remnants of the previous innings. If you go into the game with memories of previous performances it can eat away at you.”
The stylish left-handed batsman, who is still quite young in his professional career, said adaptability has become one of the most important qualities in modern T20 cricket, especially with the format constantly evolving.
“So, I try to keep things as open as possible. If the game has gone well, yes, we can maintain confidence, but if it hasn't, we try to keep our minds as fresh as possible for the upcoming games. It is also important to understand how the game is evolving because T20 cricket changes very rapidly. As batsmen, we have to be versatile enough to adjust as the team or situation demands. If we focus on that If we are able to execute, I think that's the best thing,” he said.
Sudarshan also highlighted the chemistry between himself and Gill that they share while opening the batting for the two-time finalists. The pair have been instrumental in providing solid starts for the Titans in the last three seasons and have emerged as one of the most reliable opening pairs in the marquee T20 tournament.
“Shubman is a mastermind. He understands the game well and is very strong tactically. It gives you the freedom to do whatever you want because you know Shubman is there,” Sudarshan said.
The Titans are eyeing a strong finish in the league stage and the starting combination Beloved And Sudarshan will once again play a key role when they take on CSK in a high-stakes encounter.
