Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) registered a comfortable 43-run win over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in match number 11. Indian Premier League 2026 on Sunday, April 5 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.
Batting first, RCB scored a huge score of 250/3 in 20 overs. Virat Kohli gave a fast start but was out after scoring 28 runs. Phil Salt and Devdutt Padikkal added 56 runs for the second wicket, with Salt making 46 and Padikkal making 50 off 29 balls. Padikkal put together another quick partnership with Rajat Patidar before Patidar and Tim David took charge.
Both of them made a match-deciding partnership of 99 runs in just 35 balls for the fourth wicket. Patidar remained unbeaten on 48, while David played a sensational inning of 70* off 25 balls, which included eight sixes at a strike rate of 280, to take RCB to a challenging total.
In reply, CSK struggled to maintain the required rate and lost wickets at regular intervals, finishing on 207. Sarfaraz Khan was the standout performer with a quickfire 50 off 25 balls. A late 57-run partnership between Prashant Weir and Jamie Overton provided some resistance but came too late.
For RCB, Bhuvneshwar Kumar led the bowling effort with figures of 3/41, while Jacob Duffy and Krunal Pandya took two wickets each to seal the impressive win.

RCB got a steady start courtesy of Phil Salt and Virat Kohli, who laid a solid platform at the top. Building on that foundation, the middle order took complete control of the innings. Devdutt Padikkal played a stormy inning of 50 runs in 29 balls, which created momentum. He got good support from Rajat Patidar, who remained unbeaten on 48 runs off just 19 balls. However, the highlight was Tim David's explosive performance as he scored an unbeaten 70 off 25 balls at an impressive strike rate of 280.
2) Sarfaraz Khan's lonely fight
For CSK, the chase didn't really pick up pace as wickets kept falling at regular intervals. The top order failed to provide the required support while chasing the tough target of 251. Amid the collapse, Sarfaraz Khan stood out with a brilliant counterattack during the powerplay. He played a quickfire inning of 50 runs in just 25 balls, keeping CSK's hopes alive for some time. However, his dismissal immediately after the powerplay ended any real chances of a comeback.
3) Mass withdrawal of RCB bowlers
RCB's bowling unit produced a disciplined and collective performance to secure the win. Jacob Duffy took an early lead by eliminating the openers, setting the stage for the defence. Bhuvneshwar Kumar played a vital role in picking up crucial wickets at crucial moments, ensuring that CSK never stood still. Meanwhile, Krunal Pandya and Suyyash Sharma tightened their grip on the opposition team by providing timely breakthroughs.

Well, to be honest, I was surprised too. Great battles by Sarfaraz, Prashant Veer, Jamie Overton, even Shivam Dubey to some extent. So I think, maybe I could have contributed more at the top of the order. You never know, we might have followed him. (on David) Well, you're right, KP. I think Anshul almost got his one wicket. It's unfortunate to have an illegal delivery, but yes, after that, he rocked the whole park and, as you rightly said, hats off to him. (On not taking his chances in the field) As you rightly said, if you had taken Virat Kohli's early chances we would have done it, I mean, maybe he would have had the pace for us. But I think, the game was in our hands till the 13th, 14th over and that's when the momentum really changed.

Of course, it feels great! You know, but at the same time, if you play good cricket, it gives a lot of satisfaction. The ball was stopping a bit in the beginning. The way Phil and Virat bhai played in the beginning was brilliant. After that, Dev and Tim David, I enjoyed all those sixes from the dugout and from the non-striker's end. Yes, my mindset was very clear. As long as I am batting in the middle, I try to put pressure on the bowler. Like I said, I'm lucky to have Tim David on the other end.

Very happy (on his innings) – that doesn't always happen. The captain was smoking, and I snatched some balls from him – it was great fun. I don't make much changes in my game, but the preparation I do gives me confidence. Batting with Jitesh and Shepherd behind me really gives me confidence. We do a lot of preparation here. It was great working with DK – he is an experienced player in these conditions. Has been in IPL for a few years. With that preparation, you don't put pressure on yourself to perform.
