Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain Rishabh Pant INR 30 lakh has been fined for its third slow rate of this season. The incident occurred during the 70th match of IPL 2025 against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Tuesday, where RCB chased a brilliant chase to seal the qualifier 1 berth for the first time since 2016, winning six wickets.
After being punished on 5 April and 26 April, Pant's third violations led to a huge fines. The rest in the rest of the XII was fined INR 12 lakhs or 50% of their match fee, whichever was less. Fortunately for pants, the IPL 2025 rule change spared him from suspension, earlier regulation that a third offense banned a match.
Meanwhile, it was a pant show till the first innings, as the LSG captain scored an unbeaten 118 off 118 balls, taking his innings with 11 fours and eight sixes. He sewed a large 152 -run stand with Mitchell Marsh (67 runs in 37), directing the hosts to a strong total of 227/3 in 20 overs.
Southpow saw in solid Nick, as he reached Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Suyash Sharma and Romario Shepherd in 29 balls to their fifty and carried the run-rate forward during the death over. Despite the pressure to pursue a big goal, the RCB batsmen looked calm and composed. Openers Phil Salt and Virat Kohli left for a flying start, as they reduced the team's score to 61 in just 5.4 overs.
After falling for salt 30, Kohli scored 54 off 30 balls. However, the second half of the day was in favor of RCB's stand-in skipper, Jitesh Sharma, who scored 85 off just 33 balls, his first IPL FIFTI, which included eight fours and six sixes. Holding one end with his calculated aggression, Mayank Agarwal (from 41* 23), Jeetesh played an aggressive role in his unwavering 107-rorn partnership, which won him six wickets with 8 balls.
