A tragedy occurred during the celebrations of celebrating the historic IPL 2025 of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), as a large crowd outside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium led to a horrific stampede, which claimed the lives of 11 persons and injured many more.
Subsequently, the Karnataka police arrested four persons associated with the incident. The head of RCB's Marketing and Revenue at Diazio India, Nikhil Sosle was detained at the Bengaluru Airport while he was flying to Mumbai. In particular, Sosle was identified as an important person in organizational aspects of festive celebrations.
Three employees of DNA Entertainment Network Pvt. Ltd., Kiran Kumar (Senior Event Manager), Sunil Mathew (Vice President Business Affairs), and another employee, Sumanth was also detained. DNA Entertainment was the event organizer responsible for the Vijay Parade and coordination of the public meeting.
Earlier, an FIR was registered against RCB, DNA Entertainment, and Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), including he was charged with several offenses, including guilty murders that do not qualify as murder. In addition, KSCA Secretary and Treasurer were allegedly absconding when the police tried to reach their residences.
Along with this, CM Siddaramaiah ordered several top police officers to be suspended, including Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayanand, Additional Commissioner Vikash Kumar Vikash and several officers of Cuban Park Police Station, which cited failure to ensure public safety.
The Karnataka government has entrusted a person under the leadership of retired High Court Judge Justice Michael D'Kunha to the judicial commission, with a 30 -day time limit to submit the report. According to the instructions by the State Cabinet, the investigation is complemented by the CID investigation.
Additionally, the Karnataka High Court has taken cognizance of the incident, in which the reason behind the decision behind the decision to allow mob control preparations, permissions for the incident, and free public entry without proper infrastructure, seeking a detailed reply from the government.
