Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) were defeated by Rajasthan Royals (RR) by seven wickets at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Tuesday, May 19.
Yashasvi Jaiswal stepped into the captaincy role as Riyan Parag was ruled out with a hamstring injury. They won the toss and decided to bowl first. Michelle Marsh And Josh Inglis gave a great start to the visiting team by scoring 109 runs in nine overs.
After Inglis was out for 60, Nicholas Pooran struck two powerful blows before becoming Yashraj Punia's second victim of the night. Rishabh Pant supported Marsh and the experienced pair added 64 runs in 41 balls.
Pant was out after scoring 35 runs in the last over. Marsh was out after four balls, four runs short of his second century this season. Both the batsmen were run out. Jofra Archer dismissed Ayush Badoni with a powerful yorker on the last ball as LSG finished at 220/5.
In the second innings, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi made a partnership of 75 runs in seven overs. After the former's dismissal, Dhruv Jurel joined Suryavanshi. They made a partnership of 105 runs in just 45 balls to take Royals to the brink of victory.
It was unfortunate for Suryavanshi to miss a century. He was out after scoring 93 runs on 38 balls. After his departure in the 14th over, Luan-Dre Pretorius came to bat. However, he was run out by Ayush Badoni in the 17th over.
In the end, the home side won with seven wickets to spare in 16.2 overs, with Jurel and Donovan Ferreira remaining unbeaten.
