James, who missed the Sri Lanka series due to the Quadriseps Strain and not yet to make his T20I debut, passed his fitness tests on Monday, and will travel to Auckland with the team on Wednesday.
New Zealand's head coach Ben Sawyer said, “We are ready to return Sof, Meli and Lee for this series.” “They are the three major players who bring the treasure of experience and leadership to the group.”
The wicketkeeper-butter could not recover from the hip-flexor sprain that kept him out of the T20I series against Sri Lanka. English, his replacement, made his ODI and T20I debut and played all six matches against Sri Lanka, but got to bat only once in three T20Is.
Emma McLeod, Ezi Sharp, Flora Devonshire and Brey Illing are making way for the returns of Divine, Amelia and Tahuhu. The three-match T20I series will be played from 21 March to 26 March in Auckland, Mount Munggui and Wellington.
New Zealand Squad: Suji Bates (Captain), Eden Carson, Sophie Divine, Maddy Green, Brook Holiday, Polly Iglis, Bela James, Fran Jonas, Jess Kerr, Meli Ker, Rosemary Maier, Georgia Plighty, Li Tahuhu.
