Young players of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) Mukul Chaudhary Enjoyed a dream debut campaign in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, making a strong impression with his fearless batting and emerging as one of the most exciting young talents of the season.
The right-handed batsman made headlines after playing a sensational match-winning innings against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the prestigious Eden Gardens. Choudhary scored 57 runs off just 27 balls, which included seven sky-scraping sixes, to help LSG achieve a remarkable target and seal a memorable win.
While success on the field brought him recognition and confidence, the young player revealed that his biggest source of happiness after the tournament was the opportunity to support his family financially. After being bought by Lucknow Super Giants for Rs 2.60 crore in the IPL 2026 auction, Choudhary is now preparing to repay a long-standing bank loan that his family had taken years ago.
The batsman opened up about the struggles his family faced while establishing himself and supporting his cricket journey.
Mukul told Times of India, “Before all this, my father was a teacher. Then we sold our house. My grandfather, who had retired from the army, helped us with some money. We also borrowed from my uncle. From him we bought a piece of land and later took a loan from the bank to build a hotel on it. For a long time we lived in a rented house. Ever since I started playing cricket, our family has been moving from one rented house to another.”

The 21-year-old also shared his views on how T20 cricket has evolved over the years, especially with the introduction of the impact player rule and the increased emphasis on aggressive batting.
“A lot has changed in T20 cricket. For one, the impact player rule has come in. Earlier, batsmen were expected to play long innings and stay at the crease. Now teams have two all-rounders and batting is spread up to No. 9. The mentality has changed – as soon as you come in, you are expected to attack,” he concluded.
