England beat India by 26 runs in the second game of the series to level the series 1-1, with India winning the first T20I by 38 runs at Chelmsford. The series provides the team with vital preparation ahead of the start of their T20 World Cup campaign.
“I think it's important for us to win every match, to gain confidence or get something out of the match. If we had won here, I think we would have had two wins, so that would have given us more confidence. I think we have a good challenge in front of us now, so I think we will take it,” Charani said in the post-match press conference, as reported by NDTV.
Batting first, England ended their innings at 168 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs. All-rounder Freya Kemp scored 39 not out off 13 balls, which included 24 off Arundhati Reddy in the final over of the game. India Was successful in scoring 142 runs for 9 wickets in 20 overs. Despite the defeat, the 21-year-old spinner was one of the standout performers, taking 3 for 16, with all three being crucial wickets. His victims include opening batsman Danny Wyatt-Hodge, wicketkeeper-batsman Amy Jones and former captain Heather Knight. She favors his strength and tries to bowl at him without changing her plans, and believes that the spinning ball is her strength.
“I am just trying to bowl as per my strengths, that's all, I am not trying anything, just bowling systematically. I think turning the ball is my main strength,” she said.
The third and final T20 match will be played on Tuesday, June 2 in Taunton. The Indian team will play two warm-up matches in Cardiff on June 8 and 10 before starting their ICC Women's T20 World Cup campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan at Edgbaston on June 14.
