'Many people believe he does it for the camera'

Former India batsman turned commentator Sanjay Manjrekar is mesmerized with energy Virat Kohli Despite reaching the final stage of his illustrious career, he returned to the cricket field. The 37-year-old player has shown his anger and aggression on the field several times while representing Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL).

Kohli is famous across the world for being aggressive on the field and not allowing his opponent to gain any advantage over him or his team. Many may argue that the right-handed batsman does this only for the cameras, to which Manjrekar disagrees. The former player turned specialist explained how aggression motivates him to perform well on the cricket field. However, he also thought that the RCB star would reduce his energy levels as he ages, but that has not happened this season.

“A lot of people, even players, believe he does it for the cameras. I beg to differ, because this is a guy I have seen even at the Under-19 level. That's the way he plays the game, and that's what motivates him, even as a batsman. When he gets angry at the opposition, he plays better. I thought, at this age, he would calm down a bit. But I would see him taking catches, run-outs “Doing it and having a lot of energy.” Sanjay Manjrekar Said on Sportstar's Insight Edge podcast.

There have been many such occasions this season when Kohli has been the center of attraction while fielding. The most striking example of his aggression on the field happened during RCB's game against Gujarat Titans. While fielding at extra cover, he took a sharp catch to dismiss Shubman Gill and in the process, celebrated wildly and even threw the ball down in anger.

However, Kohli's energy is not limited to the field only. He is animated even sitting in the dugout when RCB is batting. This happened during the defending champions' recent IPL game against Mumbai Indians in Raipur, where they achieved a dramatic win on the last ball.
