Delhi Capitals (DC) fast bowler lungi ngidi Has returned to practice with confidence after recovering from a horrific accident on the field. The incident had raised serious concerns, but the fast bowler now looks to be in good spirits ahead of DC's clash against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on May 1.
During a recent training session, Ngidi was seen taking part in catching drills without any hesitation. In a moment that caught everyone's attention, he confidently completed a one-handed catch while running backwards, reminiscent of the effort that led to his injury during the match against Punjab Kings (PBKS). However, this time, he executed it perfectly and even laughed afterwards, surprising and delighting his teammates.
DC shared the video on social media with a caption explaining the meaning of his name, Lungisani, which translates to 'to set things right and set things right' in Zulu.
There's a reason Lungisani means '𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗳𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁' in Zulu 🥹 pic.twitter.com/zfXWZSpFWl

The incident first occurred when Axar Patel was bowling and Priyansh Arya missed a shot high in the air. Ngidi tracked the ball while running backwards but lost his balance in an attempt to make the catch. He fell hard, hitting his head on the ground, making it look like he was in serious trouble immediately. Medical staff arrived on the field, and doctors and emergency personnel attended to him before he was stretchered off and taken to a nearby hospital after he complained of neck pain and a headache.
Luckily, Ngidi gave a reassuring update the next day, confirming he was okay. He resumed practice on April 30, but expected to return to competitive action only after completing mandatory concussion recovery protocols.
As far as Delhi Capitals are concerned, their campaign has been inconsistent so far. They are currently seventh in the points table with three wins from eight matches and a losing streak of three matches. The team will be eager to bounce back against Rajasthan Royals and regain momentum in the tournament.
