Lungi Ngidi shares positive update after suffering head injury during DC vs PBKS match

south african fast bowler lungi ngidi It has been announced on social media that he is doing well after suffering a gruesome injury during Delhi Capitals' home match against Punjab Kings on Saturday, April 25.

While jogging back and trying to take the catch of Priyansh Arya, Ngidi lost his balance and fell on the turf, hitting his head hard. The game was soon stopped while the medical team examined the severity of the injury, with the 30-year-old player later taken to a nearby hospital in an ambulance.

Later that day, the official Indian Premier League (IPL) social media account said that the bowler had complained of headache and neck pain, but was in a stable condition in the hospital, with no cause for concern.

After a long wait to know about his well-being, the DC bowler took to Instagram Story to reveal that he is fine and on the road to recovery. He also thanked fans for sending messages to check on his health.

“Thank you for the messages. All is well,” Ngidi said on his Instagram Story.

It is noteworthy that Ngidi was taken to BLK-Max Super Specialty Hospital after suffering a serious injury but was later discharged in the evening after the game against PBKS.

Ngidi was a big miss for DC after PBKS chased 265 with seven balls to spare in the second innings, a record run chase in IPL history. The South African international had not bowled a single over before suffering a neck injury.

However, Ngidi has been one of DC's best bowlers this season. He is currently the joint-highest wicket-taker for the 2020 finalists with seven wickets, along with the spin duo of captain Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav. The fast bowler started the 2026 season with a bang, taking three wickets against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) away from home.

DC is currently sixth on the points table, having earned six points from its first seven matches of the 2026 season.
