Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) won easily by nine runs Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at BRSABV Ekana Stadium match 50 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) Thursday, May 7.
Lucknow Super Giants were propelled by a brilliant century from Mitchell Marsh as he scored an impressive 111 runs off just 56 balls. His innings took the Super Giants to 209/3 as their innings was reduced to 19 overs following multiple rain delays. Nicholas Pooran scored 38 runs in 23 balls and Rishabh Pant scored 32 not out in just 10 balls.
The defending champions suffered a blow early in their innings when Mohammed Shami dismissed Jacob Bethel and Prince Yadav bowled Virat Kohli. Despite a slow start to the powerplay, Devdutt Padikkal and captain Rajat Patidar faced the Super Giants bowlers in the middle overs and stitched a brilliant partnership of 95 runs off 53 balls. Prince Yadav started the innings by taking the wickets of Padikkal and Jitesh Sharma in the same over. Tim David scored a brilliant 40 off 17 balls, and Romario Shepherd and Krunal Pandya steadied the bowlers before Digvesh Rathi defended 20 runs in the final over to give the Super Giants the win.

Mitchell Marsh was the leading run-scorer for Lucknow Super Giants in 2025. This season has been bad for the Australian all-rounder, who is playing as a batsman in the IPL. He got a start but could not take advantage of it. On this occasion, he was the Super Giants' top batsman, scoring his second IPL century for LSG and his first of 2026. Prince Yadav He has been Lucknow's leading wicket-taker and one of their best players in a poor season. The Delhi fast bowler left his mark in the beginning of this match by dismissing the charismatic Virat Kohli for a duck on the second ball. He was ruthless against the spinners and improved his hitting against the fast bowlers, making him a true enforcer of the middle order. He didn't score any half-centuries in his last five matches, but he scored a brilliant 61 runs off just 31 balls, which kept his team in the game. Patidar took on Digvesh Rathi without any regrets and drove him all over the park when he made a mistake on length. If the defending champions are to recreate the magic of 2025, their form will be crucial.

“Definitely. We were quite confident about the target and how we would complete it. We were one or two shots behind. It was a really good batting track. The ball was coming on the bat well. Like I said, we were two or three shots behind. It's difficult to analyze the game right now. We will take time before analyzing the game. I think we have four games more. We are just taking one game at a time and one step at a time. Mitchell Marsh was beautiful. The way he played, especially in the powerplay, it was a tremendous innings, the way we played, I need some time to see where we fell short in the powerplay.

“Yes, it was definitely a good game for us. Yes, this win means a lot to the entire team. We are trying to do a lot of things together. To finally get on the same page, it means a lot to us. It has been a tough season for us, but sometimes you have to push through the hard work. We were trying to get closer to our ideal game where both our batting and bowling come together. Some good luck and some bad luck at the same time. It was a tough call to win here, but at the same time, Rathi (Shepherd) bowled well for us, but our bowling has been great, especially Shami. There have definitely been good things for us as a bowling unit and we're looking forward to it.”

“It's been a tough season. It's good to be able to get over the line and get a win. It's great for our morale. Some of the Indian boys said before the match that it (the pitch) looked better than the wickets we've played on before. So I tried to maximize the powerplay and impact the game. That's an area we haven't been able to get right so far in the tournament. But we performed well tonight and scored some runs. I think we did better in the last 2 matches.” Batted really well. We were 10-15 short on a very good pitch, we knew RCB bat deep and so, it's not really over, so proud of some of the youngsters.
