Kolkata Knight Riders suffered a major blow as Angkrish Raghuvanshi was ruled out with an injury and a fractured finger.

Before the end of the business of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, Kolkata Knight Riders have suffered a big blow, the young wicketkeeper-batsman Angkrish Raghuvanshi He was ruled out of the remainder of the tournament due to a concussion and a fractured left finger. The franchise confirmed the news in an official statement on Friday, May 22, just two days before their crucial clash against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Eden Gardens.

The right-handed batsman suffered the injury during KKR's four-wicket win over Mumbai Indians on May 20. The incident occurred in the 11th over of Mumbai's innings when Raghuvanshi and teammate Varun Chakravarthy collided while trying to take a catch to dismiss Tilak Verma. Both players fell awkwardly during the attempt and Chakraborty was unable to complete the catch.

Although Raghuvanshi initially remained on the ground, he looked uncomfortable after the collision. Soon after the dismissal of MI middle-order batsman Tilak Verma in the 14th over, the young wicketkeeper walked off the field for medical treatment. Substitute keeper Tejashwi Dahiya replaced him behind the stumps and later officially came into the playing eleven as a concussion substitute.

The injury could not have come at a worse time for the three-time champions, who remain in a tense race for the final playoff spot. The franchise will have to defeat Delhi Capitals in their final league match and will also have to rely on favorable results in other matches to stay in the competition.

Raghuvanshi has been one of the standout performers for KKR this season. The 21-year-old is currently the team's leading run-scorer in IPL 2026, having scored 422 runs at an impressive average of 42.2 and strike rate of 146.52 in the campaign. His account includes five half-centuries, underscoring his consistency and importance to the team throughout the season. KKR is sixth in the table with six wins from 13 matches.
