South African Cricket Legend AB de Villiers Prior to the final of the IPL 2025, he has expressed his excitement that he would celebrate the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), defeating Punjab Kings (PBK) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and raised their first IPL Trophy.
Former RCB Stallwart formed an impressive partnership with Virat Kohli during his sports days and revealed that he would make every effort to attend the ceremonies and to congratulate Kohli personally.
“I will celebrate and try and go to the change room in any way – just to make Virat a big hug,” de Villiers told Cricket.com.
RCB booked its place in the final after a major demonstration against PBK at Qualifier 1 at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh. However, PBK bounced firmly by defeating five -time champions Mumbai Indians (Mi) on 1 June to secure a place in the final.
Former South Africa International, who scored more than 5,000 runs in the IPL, remains a reputed man in the league. His memorable partnership with Kohli helped make several records, and he continued to support the team even after retirement. RCB entered the tournament under the new leadership, in which silver Patidar was in front. He finished second on the points table with 19 points and reached the finals for the first time in nine years. On the other hand, PBK was captained by Shreyas Iyer, also made a remarkable comeback this season. Under its captaincy, the team reached the playoffs after 11 years and ended at the top of the table.
Both franchisees are targeting their first title at the Marki event, which began in 2008. After 18 sessions of the Cash-Rich League, IPL 2025 will finally crown a new champion.
