'Khiladi was crying' – Shashank Singh revealed the atmosphere of the dressing room after IPL 2025 final loss [Exclusive]

Cricketcker, in a special conversation with the batsman of Punjab Kings Shashank Singh Royal Challengers Bangalore revealed the mood in the dressing room after a six -run defeat in the IPL 2025 final at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.

RCB finally broke the wait for her 17-season for a young woman IPL title. For PBKS, this was his second IPL last defeat. Chasing 191, the Kings lost the initial wickets, including the wickets of Skipper Shreyas Iyer, who were rejected for only one.

But Shashank scored 61 runs in only 30 delivery, kept alive with an unbeaten 61 with three fours and six sixes. He even scored 22 runs against Josh Hazelwood with the last four balls, but he eventually decreased. He also advised that Captain Shres Iyer and Coach Ricky Ponting gave him to promote his confidence.

Some excerpts:

What advice did Captain Shres Iyer and Coach Ricky Ponting give you, which became a game-changer for your confidence?

Yes of course. When Ricky Sir and Shreyas Iyer came this year, it was a very positive atmosphere. It was never a performance-oriented culture. You know what happens in cricket? Obviously, I know this is a performance-oriented game. But when it comes to the dressing room, it happens as if it has done well, then let's see it well. Let's put it on a chair. He was not in the dressing room. Everyone was the same. Whether you are doing good or bad, it has never been seen and obviously, when we went to the IPL, my practice matches were not special. But the way Ricky Sir and Shreyas Iyer supported me, they told me, you are our match winner, we are not going to judge you with two IPL matches. This is just that you go and play with your freedom. Do not take so much stress. As I told you, I wanted to prove myself. I did not want to prove anyone wrong. I wanted to prove myself that I dominate this level. Back-to-back years, I can dominate. It was special initially, but the way Shreyas and Ricky Sir supported me, I think it was tremendous. The way he supported me, all the credit goes to him.

How was the atmosphere of the dressing room after losing the IPL 2025 final? Please explain that moment a little?

The team that wins is focused on. that's how it's supposed to be. They won, they are happy. I do not remember what the fans were doing in another team. At a certain point, it takes a long time to win. We were in the final. It was one of the most difficult tournaments in the cricket world. In the final, we were very close, and I was playing there. I could have been a match winner. Obviously, I felt bad. I was not alone. There were players in the dressing room. They were crying. Our bosses were feeling bad. He was very disappointed. I saw their tears. It is different from media, fans, cameras. This is a personal loss. You can't just say, we lost. It takes a lot of time. I still remember, we matched the State League the next day. I thought it would be better. But I did not get out of the final loss. I was talking to my sister. I told him, I am not able to enjoy. State League is something where you enjoy playing with your colleagues. But in the IPL, we did not have a bad tournament. It was a good thing that we reached the finals. But this disadvantage, it took a lot of time. I was playing, but I was not having fun. But then, it was a state league. Apparently there were players who were there to meet me and play with me. Obviously, you have to play as a professional. But that disadvantage, everyone was hurt. I saw their tears. It took some time, but I think we still believe and we now know that next year we will roam around the tables. We will ensure that those moments are ours.
