MI vs LSG: Toss Update
Suryakumar YadavOn a slightly damp wicket due to humidity, the Mumbai Indians stand-in captain won the toss and elected to field. He replaces Hardik Pandya, who is out due to back spasms. Lucknow Super Giants captain Rishabh Pant also said that he would have liked to field first.
MI vs LSG: Mukul Chaudhary misses out, Josh Inglis makes debut for LSG
Hardik Pandya not playing for Mumbai Indians due to back spasms was the biggest talking point. Another big story was the return of Rohit Sharma to the blue and gold after being sidelined with a calf injury. Deepak Chahar, Raj Bawa and Corbin Bosch came in place of Krish Bhagat, Robin Minz and Trent Boult.
For LSG, Mukul Chaudhary Akshat Raghuvanshi was replaced in his place. While it is not yet confirmed whether Mukul has been ruled out or has suffered an injury, Australian keeper-batsman Josh Inglis has made his debut for the Super Giants.
MI vs LSG: What did the captains say?
Suryakumar Yadav, MI captain
We would like to bowl first. (Any particular reason?) Nothing, it looks good. It is also a bit humid tonight. There is no wind. In the second innings we saw what had happened here in the last 2-3 matches. So it got a little better. So I just want to take advantage and give it to the bowlers. He (Hardik) is not well tonight, so just going in his place. But yes, everything else is fine. There is definitely, cobin bosch Trent comes for Boult and so does our own Rohit Sharma is back. You can't run away from the fact, honestly speaking, Mumbai Indians are not in such a situation. But at the end of the day, it's just a game, part of the game, you've got to keep your chin up, play the game why you love it, and get your hands up. Keep that pride and enjoy the game. (Clearly there is no margin for errors now, right?) Can't say it can make us dangerous, but certainly we can try and do our best. We have five games left. Try and win as many times as possible.
Rishabh Pant, LSG Captain
We would have done the same. It is a good wicket to bat on and you can chase any target. Lots of reflection. It has been a tough season for us, there is no running away from it. Everyone knows how passionate he (Sanjiv Goenka) is about the game and his team, hopefully we can do the same for the owner and our fans. Records help but everything comes together when you're clearing your mindset. English came, Mukul went out and Raghuvanshi came, we will decide on bowling later.
