Kris Srikkanth criticizes Delhi Capitals captain Akshar Patel For their disappointing performance in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. The former India opener made the comments after Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Monday. Akshar and company were out for 75, after which the visitors returned home in 6.3 overs with nine wickets remaining.
Srikkanth said it has been a long time since Axar has made a significant contribution with bat and ball or even as the captain of the Capitals.
“He has not done anything with the bat for a long time. Even as an all-rounder and captain, it has been a long time since he did anything. When was the last time he did something lethal with the bat or the ball? If this is the case, how can the team come forward?” Srikanth asked in a video on his YouTube channel.
Srikkanth pointed out some flaws in the armor of the Capitals' batting lineup, the likes of Tristan Stubbs, Samir Rizvi and David Miller.
Srikkanth said, “Tristan Stubbs has been around for a long time. When you bowl Nitish Rana, he is a thing of the past. Sameer Rizvi struggles against fast or medium pace bowling at the beginning of his innings. If he gets settled after dismissing a spinner for 20 runs, he will play well against the fast bowlers as well. Miller has also not done anything impressive.”
Look at yourself before commenting on others: Srikanth on Hemang Badani
Srikkanth criticized Delhi Capitals head coach Hemang Badani for his outspoken comments on Chennai Super Kings head coach Stephen Fleming ahead of IPL 2025. Badani had said that MS Dhoni was the main reason behind Chennai's success, and the former New Zealand captain did not contribute much. Srikanth asked the 49-year-old man to mind his own business.
“Look at yourself first before commenting on others. This is why you should never speak loudly in life. He did that, and now he has become silent. Now everyone is criticizing him, and he has no option but to remain silent. He should have just minded his business instead of making claims about Fleming. What have you done? You also have not done much,” Srikanth said (via the above source).
