Former Indian Premier League (IPL) star Aditya Tare Has shared his views on the playoff chances of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in IPL 2026. The three-time champions have made a strong comeback after a difficult start to the season by winning four consecutive matches.
Despite their resurgence, KKR are currently seventh on the points table with four wins from 10 matches. He also scored a point as the match against Punjab Kings was abandoned, taking his tally of points to nine.
Tare believes KKR will still back themselves to qualify for the playoffs, stressing that teams that peak at the end of the tournament often achieve success. He pointed out that momentum can significantly change a team's fortunes in the latter stages of the IPL.
After a poor start to the campaign, which included six matches without a win, KKR are now trying hard to make a late comeback in their quest to secure a top-four spot.
Tare said on Star Sports, “The IPL is won by teams who build momentum at the business end and KKR have turned their season around with consistent wins when it mattered most. They have some great match-winners, and now they have started to fire together as a unit. Their spin attack has rejuvenated, giving them an edge.”
“Their pace attack is taking wickets regularly. Finn Allen and Cameron Green are in good form with the bat. They lost five consecutive games in the beginning but now they have turned things around and their chances of being in the race for the top four will be strong,” he said.
Talking about the match, KKR registered a spectacular victory over Delhi Capitals by eight wickets. Batting first, DC scored 142/8 in 20 overs. Pathum Nissanka played a quick inning of 50 runs in 29 balls with the help of five fours and three sixes at a strike rate of 172.41. For KKR, Anukul Roy took 2 for 31, while Karthik Tyagi took 2 for 25 in his four-over spell.
In reply, KKR chased the target easily and scored 147/2 in just 14.2 overs. Finn Allen performed brilliantly after coming in as an impact player and scored an unbeaten 100 off just 47 balls. His sensational innings included five fours and 10 sixes at a remarkable strike rate of 212.77.
Axar Patel was one of the few bright spots for DC with the ball, returning figures of 1/27 from his four overs. Allen made a match-winning partnership of 116 runs for the third wicket with Cameron Green in just 64 balls, giving KKR a resounding victory.
