Sunrisers Hyderabad head coach Daniel Vettori has given an update on the England fast bowler. braydon carse And his absence from the team in their first game of IPL 2026 against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Carse was earmarked as a likely starter due to his hit-the-deck bowling, which could be a point of difference in the Sunrisers attack, especially as the Chinnaswamy Stadium pitch was suited to that style of bowling.
Vettori said Carse injured his right hand in nets during training before the game. Although there were no significant injuries, swelling meant that Carse was unable to catch the ball. The condition is improving and the former New Zealand captain is hopeful that Carse will be ready for selection in their next game at Eden Gardens.
In the post-match press conference, Vettori said, “He got hit on his bowling hand in the nets while he was batting. There was no injury to it, but there was a lot of swelling and he tried to push for the game, but he was finding it difficult to hold the ball. He is improving, so we are hopeful that he will be available for selection for Kolkata.”
