Former Indian batsman Sanjay Bangar has praised Ishan Kishan For his innings against Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, which helped Sunrisers Hyderabad seal a place in the 2026 Indian Premier League playoffs.
Chasing a total of 181, Kishan scored a brilliant 70 off 47 balls, which became the backbone of the run chase. He hit seven fours and three sixes in a restrained innings. Bangar appreciated the maturity shown by Kishan in the innings and praised his composure, the performance of which has become a recurring theme in the 2026 season.
“This is one of the defining innings of Ishan Kishan's IPL career, and probably one of his finest innings in the tournament. Ever since we have seen this new version of Ishan Kishan, one thing that really stands out is his composure. He never looked rushed, and that is a tremendous quality in the fast-paced T20 format. To have the confidence to stay till the end and build that partnership was excellent,” Bangar said while speaking on Geostar.
Kishan played a brilliant inning of 75 runs in 41 balls. heinrich classenWhich helped set the stage for the innings. The former India batting coach also lauded the way the wicketkeeper-batsman paces his innings and picks moments to accelerate and consolidate respectively.
He further said that this was an innings that CSK coach Stephen Fleming would have expected from his captain Ruturaj Gaikwad. Gaikwad had another disappointing performance with the bat, scoring 15 runs from 21 balls and looked unable to make any progress.
Bangar said, “The kind of role that Stephen Fleming would have expected from a player like Ruturaj was played by Ishan Kishan in the second innings. He built partnerships at the right time, attacked when needed and ensured that Klaasen got as many strikes as possible. There were a lot of aspects to praise about this innings. It was a pleasure to see him bat in such spectacular fashion.”
