Naman Dheer joined the evening's star Quinton de Kock and once the pair had stabilized the innings, he took charge. In his first game in MI, the stumper-batsman remained unbeaten on 112 off just 60. Dheer scored 50 off 31 balls as some brilliant death bowling from the Punjab bowlers helped restrict them to a total below 200 on a belter of a pitch. Arshdeep took 3 wickets for 22 runs in his four overs.
In reply, Punjab Kings made a good start despite losing Priyansh Arya and Cooper Connolly to the mystery spin of Allah Ghazanfar. Prabhsimran Singh and captain Shreyas Iyer steadied the ship in the middle overs with a brilliant partnership of 139 runs in just 67 balls. Shreyas Iyer was out after scoring 66 runs in just 35 balls, his third consecutive half-century. Prabhsimran remained unbeaten on 83 and Marcus Stoinis remained unbeaten on 10 as Punjab Kings cruised home with 21 balls to spare, completing their unbeaten start to IPL 2026.

2. Arshdeep silenced the critics in the powerplay
Arshdeep Singh had not taken a single wicket in the powerplay before stepping into the Wankhede in IPL 2026. Taking the new ball, he started by bowling a brilliant over to start the proceedings for Punjab Kings. Armed with a beautifully shaped outswinger, Ryan Rickelton found it difficult to put the bat on the ball. After this he took two wickets, where he dismissed Rickelton and Suryakumar Yadav on consecutive balls. He finished the powerplay with figures of 2/4, and came back to bowl with control in the death overs, finishing the game with figures of 3/22.
3. Prabhsimran and Shreyas snatched the game from MI
Mumbai Indians took two early wickets in the powerplay, but Prabhsimran Singh along with Shreyas Iyer ensured that Mumbai Indians were not able to carry that momentum forward. The pair took on the Mumbai bowlers and ensured they performed well in the middle overs. They reduced the total score and ensured that the asking rate decreased as each over progressed. Both batsmen scored half-centuries as their 139-run stand helped the Kings lighten the total. Iyer was out on 66 runs, but Prabsimran remained unbeaten on 80 runs.
