Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will take on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Match No. 22 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Tuesday, April 14.
Ruturaj Gaikwad and Co. finally registered their first win of the season by defeating Delhi Capitals by 23 runs. The season got off to a worrying start as they lost three games in a row. On the other hand, Kolkata Knight Riders are still winless in IPL 2026. They have suffered three defeats in four matches and one point after their game against Punjab Kings was washed out due to rain.
CSK might have heaved a sigh of relief after Sanju Samson and Ayush Mhatre scored runs in the last game against Delhi. However, captain Ruturaj Gaikwad's lack of runs this season will be a matter of concern. On the bowling front, Noor Ahmed and Khaleel Ahmed performed well last season but were not at their best in IPL 2026. However, Jamie Overton has bowled brilliantly. In the last game he took a brilliant four wickets.
As for the Knights, they have not performed well as a unit. Despite the presence of Sunil Narine, the bowling department is not looking very dangerous. Varun Chakraborty is struggling with form and fitness. Mathisha Pathirana is expected to join the squad before the game. However, it will be interesting to see whether the KKR management directly includes him in the attack or not.
Here is the 3-player battle for CSK vs KKR, Match 22 of IPL 2026:
3. Finn Allen vs. Khalil Ahmed

Finn Allen looks in good form but has not been able to convert his starts into big scores. KKR would like its opening batsman to bat at least for the first 10 overs. If Allen can do that, the way he bats, the Kiwi star can put KKR in a strong position.
Khalil Ahmed He has not been anywhere near his best this season. He has taken only one wicket in four matches. However, his role will be important with the new ball as he can swing it faster. Khaleel took his first wicket of the season in the last game and will look to take confidence from it to deliver a match-winning performance on Tuesday.
