Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) lost to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in a Super Over at the BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium on Sunday, April 26.
Rishabh Pant won the toss and decided to field first on a sticky surface. mohsin khan Bowling brilliantly with the new ball, he dismissed Tim Seifert, Ajinkya Rahane and Rovman Powell within the first seven overs. Angkrish Raghuvanshi, on the other hand, was dismissed for obstructing the field as he came in the way of Mohammed Shami's throw. However, it turned out to be a controversial call by the third umpire, sparking a heated debate on social media.
Cameron Green showed intent and scored 34 runs in 21 balls with the help of three sixes. However, he was out in the 11th over, when the score was 73/5. Anukul Roy was out on the very first ball and KKR's situation got worse. Ramandeep Singh also failed to make a mark and when Sunil Narine joined Rinku, the visitors were in a miserable position at 93/7 in 15 overs.
It seemed that from the position KKR was in, they would be on cloud nine with a score of over 140. However, Rinku's stormy performance at the end of the innings helped the three-time champions finish at 155/7. Mohsin Khan was the bowler of choice for LSG, finishing with figures of 5/23 including a maiden.
In the second innings, KKR took the early wicket of Mitchell Marsh in the second over. However, Rishabh Pant and Aiden Markram steadied the ship with a partnership of 57 runs off 55 balls. KKR had to make a strong comeback in the middle overs. Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine once again came to the party, stopping the flow of runs and picking up important wickets.
Cameron Green broke the partnership by dismissing Markram for 31 runs. Pant was out soon after for 42 off 38 balls as Narine opened his account. Nicholas Pooran once again flopped and was out on Chakraborty's bowling after scoring nine runs.
Ayush Badoni and Himmat Singh played good innings, but Mukul Chaudhary and George Linde failed to make much impact. 17 runs were needed in the last over. Karthik Tyagi started with two beamers before hitting a four. However, he made a strong comeback by dismissing Himmat. Seven runs were needed on the last ball and Shami hit Tyagi for a six over long off, taking the game to the Super Over.
Narine was given the responsibility of bowling in the super over. He started by taking the wicket of Puran on the very first ball. After this Rishabh Pant went out and took one run. Markram tried to hit a six on the next ball, but a brilliant combination in the field from Rovman Powell and Rinku helped KKR dismiss the South African batsman.
LSG lost two wickets for one run, leaving the Knights with a target of only two runs. Rinku needed one ball to end the match and she hit a four off Prince Yadav.

Mohsin Khan announces return to IPL
Mohsin Khan impressed in his debut season playing for Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL a few years ago. He has been in and out of the team in the last few seasons due to form and injury concerns. However, he was at his best on Sunday, setting the tone early with the new ball and never allowing the momentum to change thereafter. He finished with figures of 5/23, his best performance in the shortest format.
Rinku Singh shines in Ekana
Rinku Singh played one of the best innings so far in IPL 2026. The southpaw came out to bat when the score was 31/4. He dropped the anchor, allowing Cameron Green to play his natural game. However, with KKR slipping to 93/7, Rinku took the responsibility upon herself to take her team to a fightable score. The 28-year-old player remained unbeaten on 83 runs in 51 balls with the help of seven fours and five sixes. He hit four sixes bowled by Digvesh Rathi in the last over of KKR's innings.
Sunil Narine did wonders in the super over.
If you are going into a Super Over with Sunil Narine, you should be quietly confident. For a moment it seemed that KKR were considering giving the ball to Karthik Tyagi. However, eventually, better sense prevailed and the mystery spinner was deployed. Narine bowled a tossed-up off-break, which Pooran tried to heave to the leg-side. However, the right hand caught the wind and the ball crashed on top of the off-stump. The third ball was also bowled slowly, forcing Markram to use his strength to cross the boundary. However, the right-handed batsman could not get enough distance on the shot. Rinku Singh took just one ball to chase down the two runs required by KKR in the Super Over.
