Captain of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) Rishabh Pant Highlighting the challenges faced by the team, team owner Sanjiv Goenka admitted that the franchise faces a tough campaign in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026.
Speaking at the toss ahead of Match 47 against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium, Pant acknowledged the team's struggles and pointed out that his boss Goenka has faced a particularly tough time because of his deep involvement and passion towards the team.
Pant said, “One thing we have always known is that it has been a difficult season for us and it is not possible to run away from it, but for us one person who has seen the toughest times is our owner Mr Goenka. He is one of those guys, everyone knows how passionate he is about cricket and his team.”
LSG are having a very poor season and have only won two of their first eight matches. Pant admitted that the team had not lived up to expectations and also apologized to the supporters for the results so far and promised them a strong comeback.
He added, “But at the same time we have also disappointed our fans. The only promise from this break is that we will give our 200%, try to bring that happiness back and hopefully we can do it for our owner and the fans for sure.”
Meanwhile, MI stand-in captain Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and decided to bowl first in this important match for them. hardik pandya He was not included in the starting eleven due to ill health, while Rohit Sharma made his much-awaited comeback.
From LSG, Australian wicketkeeper-batsman Josh Inglis made a return to the IPL, while Mukul Chaudhary was replaced by Akshat Raghuvanshi. LSG are currently placed tenth in the points table and need a win against MI to stay in the competition.
